JDRF remains dedicated to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes as our highest priority. But until a cure is within more immediate reach, JDRF is committed to keeping individuals with type 1 diabetes healthy and reducing the burden of living with the disease.  Also, for those patients who have lived with the disease for decades, JDRF believes it is essential to find new ways to prevent, reverse or treat the complications of type 1 diabetes.

Additionally, as part of a comprehensive research program on type 1 diabetes, JDRF is funding research to further understand the underlying causes of the disease to develop strategies to prevent the disease from occurring in future generations.  [Learn more]

Research Snapshot Highlights: Today, thanks to caring people like you, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity in the world. Our many passionate and dedicated supporters have made us the leader in science that aims to cure, treat, and prevent type 1 diabetes and its complications.  Highlighted in this article are a few examples of the many cutting edge areas of research you are helping us fund.

Clinical Trials:  By participating in a JDRF-funded clinical trial, you play an important role in the fight to treat and cure type 1 diabetes.  Human clinical trials are a critical phase of researching new drugs before they become available to patients, and new ways of managing diabetes. Many tests are conducted before the clinical trial stage to determine whether potential treatments are appropriate for testing in people. It is through clinical trials that new drugs, therapies and ultimately, a cure for type 1 diabetes will be discovered.
