Twenty-one million Americans have diabetes, a serious chronic disease that has increased by 49% from 1990 to 2000.  Diabetes can cause heart disease, stroke and a multitude of other health complications.

Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes, is also on the rise.  While we do not know what causes type 1 diabetes and there is no cure, JDRF has a mission:  to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Currently over 3 million young people have type 1 diabetes and insulin is only life support, not a cure.
Educating our kids about health matters
is important for the future!

Raise Money for your School and Help JDRF
Find a Cure for Diabetes!
Your school or class can sponsor a Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes! The students receive health information about diabetes and a JDRF Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising packet.

In the packet, each child receives paper sneakers, sold to friends and family for a $1 donation and placed around the school (auditorium, hallways, cafeteria, etc.) with the donors name. Donations are sent back to school in collection envelopes.

On collection day, students participate in the Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes at their school.  Parents and volunteers are invited to join the students as they walk.  Along with supporting a good cause, your child receives a thank you prize for their efforts and learns important social and health information too.
